A Life Less Ordinary is a 1997 romantic/black comedy film directed by Danny Boyle, written by Boyle and John Hodge. Following the international success of Trainspotting, Hodge and Boyle sought to use funding from Channel 4 to make a film that would appeal to a U.S. audience, but this follow-up proved something of a mis-firecitation needed.
It stars Ewan McGregor, Cameron Diaz, Holly Hunter, and Delroy Lindo. Unusually, the film was serialised as a full-length comic strip within leading British comic 2000AD, written by then-editor David Bishop and drawn by Steve Yeowell - the first film to receive such treatment in Britain for almost a decade.

Synopsis
O'Reilly (Hunter) and Jackson (Lindo) are two angels whose jobs are to unite man and woman in eternal bliss on Earth. After a bad run that included several divorces and irreconcilable sexual disharmony, the two are in danger of being banished to Earth. Their latest job, however, can save them. Their mission: bring together Robert Lewis (McGregor) and Celine Naville (Diaz).
Robert is a dreaming, but hapless janitor who just got fired, replaced by a durable robot, dumped by his girlfrend for an aerobics instructor and evicted by the Firm But Fair Eviction & Collection Agency (O'Reilly and Jackson's front). Celine is a spoiled and wealthy heiress, whose most recent jerk of a boyfriend got a bullet to the brain, after Celine told him not to move when he agreed to let her shoot an apple off the top of his head. The two finally meet when Robert bursts into his boss Mr. Naville's (Ian Holm) office while he's lecturing Celine (his daughter) on her failings and his punishments for her. Robert first deals with pack of security guards, grabs one's revolver and gets attacked again by the guards before Celine kicks him the gun. Holding Naville at gunpoint, Robert demands his job back, by counting to 5. Naville laughs as Robert only gets to 4, before Celine says 5 causing him to hit Naville in the leg. With that, Robert takes an eager Celine hostage. Robert, however, is an inept kidnapper. While making his ransom demand, he keeps making mistakes, like letting himself get interrupted, dialing the wrong number and switching the main words ("Right, daughter. I've got your asshole here."). O'Reilly and Jackson, meanwhile, pay Naville a visit, dressed as bounty hunters. To keep Naville from hiring others that will keep their dream pair apart, O'Reilly sweet-talks herself and Jackson into getting the job of returning Robert and Celine.
The rest of the film features Robert and Celine, first bickering, then falling in love as they flee the two angels (who are putting the two in jeopardy to keep them together), Naville and his butler/bodyguard and ordinary life in general.
